Course description

This course prepares you for the ABRSM Level 1 Award in Music Theory (Grade 1) exam and associated qualification.

In this course, you will learn the fundamentals of music theory. You will gain an understanding of notes, simple time signatures, note grouping, the stave, accidentals, scales, key signatures and triads. You will also become familiar with frequently used terms and signs concerning tempo, dynamics, performance directions and articulation marks.

Lessons

This course contains 12 lessons. It is estimated that the total time to complete this course is 1 month at 3 hours per week.

There will be an end of course assessment, which if passed (score of 66%+) will gain you a SD Music Certificate.

Instructor

Your instructor for this course is Anthony Daly ARCO ATCL. Anthony studied music at Trinity Laban, then at the University of Cambridge. In 2013, he qualified as an Associate of the Royal College of Organists winning three prizes for high achievement. Anthony has recorded for Classic FM and performed live on BBC Radio 4.
