Course description

In this course you will learn how to harmonise a chorale melody in four parts in the style of J.S. Bach. We will be using the well-known English hymn tune 'Praise to the Lord, the Almighty' (melody: Lobe den Herren, 1665), and you will explore a straightforward process in order to produce a full four-part setting of the chorale.

Entry requirements

An advanced knowledge of music theory is a prerequisite for this course, specifically reading and writing using Baroque C clefs. A basic knowledge of counterpoint is also helpful.
